Why Choose GDC?

Small Classes
GDC classes have an average of only 6-8 students in our HUGE studio space which gives dancers significant individual attention, tailored corrections, and more room to move.

Gentle, nurturing philosophy
We are not a competitive school; all students are valued performers and share the front row, featured roles and performance opportunities. Your child will feel welcome, included and special no matter what their ability or experience level is. It is really important to us at GDC that children are kind, encouraging and well-rounded humans, not just good dancers.

Minimal environmental impact
We have a 3 tiered plan for choosing costumes in the lead up to performances
  1. Do we have something in our boxes we can use again? (Hundreds of costumes from previous years are reused/repurposed)
  2. Can we borrow from someone? GDC has a free swap arrangement with other studios to minimise cost, waste and resources)
  3. Once option 1 and 2 are exhausted a small percentage of our costumes are bought from ethical and sustainable companies or hand made locally by artisan designers.

Age appropriate costuming and optional makeup!
If you don’t feel comfortable putting red lipstick on your five year old, That’s ok! (neither do we) Hair styles and makeup are negotiable and optional for all exams and performances. Our costumes provide more coverage that most and are often designed/altered in collaboration with students and parents.

Inexpensive
At GDC we don’t want to charge more than we need to. We simply cover costs and pay our lovely teachers. Our term fees are economical compared to most local studios, plus significant savings are made through:

- Costume hire program ($15 per costume) Elsewhere you may be obliged to purchase full price (often with mark-up) costumes of $80-$200 and you probably wont find out about this until you are already enrolled.

- Cost price exams: We don’t add to the price set by our governing bodies and syllabus providers! Ballet exams are optional and provided by the Southern Federation of Dance (one of the only Australian owned and designed programs).
Junior grades are $60-80 Senior grades $100-$130.
